I guess I'll go with the wood look then! It was so hard to decide. I will look into the spray-on stuff to make it look like granite and see how it looks. At this point easier (like the plain wood) is great since it's turned into such a huge project and I'm really ready to focus my attention on the fridge.
I was able to buy magnetic paint from Lowes and have started painting the fridge sides. The paint works great and after only two coats magnets are already working! I'm going to do at least one-two more coats of magnetic paint and then a layer of super gloss paint and it should look pretty fridge like. I haven't done the doors yet or the interior of back of the fridge. So that's the next big step. The last part of the project will be the upper cabinets and then the flooring. It's great to see the room comming along so well.
Thanks for all the opinions.
Oh, about the cabinets. I didn't have a pattern. I did have the mini stove which I used to base the size of the cabinets off of and then I looked at my own cabinets to see how to put the mini ones together. The fridge I'm just completely winging. But hopefully it turns out ok. We'll see.

I vote wood. I agree that it makes the room look warmer. There's too much blue/grey/silver and cool tones to go with the laminate. The wood tone livens the room up a bit.

I like the wood. I also like the idea of spray painting and poly-whatevering too. You might try a bit and see how it looks
